Transmission Valve Body: How It Works
The valve body is the "control center" of an automatic transmission. Its key functions:

Hydraulic Flow Director

Uses a network of channels and valves to route pressurized transmission fluid (ATF).

Shift Control

Solenoids (electrically controlled valves) open/close to direct fluid to specific clutch packs or bands, triggering gear changes.

Pressure Regulation

Modulates fluid pressure to ensure smooth shifts and prevent component damage.

ECM Coordination

Responds to signals from the transmission control module (TCM) to time shifts precisely.

In short: The valve body acts like a hydraulic "traffic cop," using fluid pressure and electronic commands to execute gear shifts.
